Pope Francis invites us to celebrate the World Day of the Poor on November 19, 2023

We are all called to join Pope Francis in celebrating the seventh World Day of the Poor on November 19, 2023, the 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time. The theme of this year’s message is “Do not turn your face away from anyone who is poor” (Tob 4:7), taken from the Book of Tobit, a text of the Old Testament that offers a rich teaching on poverty and charity

The World Day of the Poor is an opportunity for the Church community to show its solidarity with the poorest of our sisters and brothers, both at home and abroad.

The Spiritan Mission Ireland (SMI) office encourages everyone to mark this day. In the promotion of this day, the SMI office has prepared two resources that might help engage with the theme of this day
